We all remember the ritual. You’d slide the game in, press down the tray, and wait for that familiar glow. But instead of the title screen, you got a jumble of glitched pixels and a silent speakers. You didn't give up. You pulled that cartridge out, took a deep breath, and gave it one good blow—that "magic" fix that everyone swore by.
Blow The Cartridge wasn't born in a boardroom; it was born on that living room carpet.
Growing up, gaming wasn't just a hobby for me—it was how I spent rainy North Carolina afternoons, how I bonded with friends after school, and eventually, how I shared a piece of my own childhood with my kids. But as the years passed, I realized that for many, these games were becoming nothing more than "clutter" in a garage or dust-collectors in an attic.
I founded Blow The Cartridge because I believe these games deserve better than a cardboard box at the back of a closet. They deserve to be played, shared, and passed down to the next generation of heroes, racers, and adventurers.
When you sell your collection to us, you aren't just "offloading inventory." You’re handing over memories. Whether it’s the RPG that got you through a tough summer or the sports game you played with your brother until the sun came up, we treat every cartridge with the respect it earned.
Our mission is simple: To dust off the past so someone else can experience the magic. We keep our overhead low in Wendell so we can put more money back in your pocket, ensuring that the legacy of retro gaming lives on—one breath at a time.
John McCants Founder, Blow The Cartridge
Is it safe to mail my games to you? Absolutely. Blow The Cartridge is a registered business operating under Wholly Managed LLC in Wendell, North Carolina. We have a long, established history of buying and selling retro games, with highly rated, vetted storefronts on both eBay and Amazon. You are dealing with a verified professional business, not an anonymous profile.
How does the mail-in payment process work? To guarantee 100% safety and transparency for out-of-state sellers, we use Facebook Marketplace's built-in checkout to act as a secure escrow service. Here is how it works:
Get Your Quote: Search your items in our pricing engine and submit your Sell List.
Create a Listing: We will confirm your final total. You will then create a private Facebook Marketplace listing for that exact amount and turn on the "Shipping" option.
Secure Payment: We will buy your listing. Facebook securely charges our account and holds the money.
Ship It: You will get an official notification from Facebook that the item is paid for and ready to ship.
Get Paid: Once the tracking number shows the package is delivered to our facility in NC, Facebook automatically releases the funds directly to your bank account.
Do I have to pay Facebook's selling fees? No! Facebook Marketplace currently charges a 5% fee for shipped orders. We will calculate that fee and add it to your total listing price before we buy it. This ensures you walk away with the exact cash payout you were quoted on our site.
Do you do local meetups? Yes! If you are local to the Wendell or greater Wake County area, submit your Sell List and let us know you want to meet up. We can pay you in cash, Venmo, or Zelle on the spot.
